WALT Disney himself couldn’t conjure up the fairytale beauty and allure of Butley Priory.
Found only a few miles from Dickensian Woodbridge, this stunning former Augustinian monastery lies cloaked in privacy amidst dense woodlands where there’s not a peep, apart from the occasional tweet of birdsong.
Dramatic, monumental and unique, Butley is in a class of its own, and is the perfect spot for an intimate and personal bespoke wedding at any time of year.
A south-facing building with glorious, huge feature windows, the priory is bathed in sunlight even on the coldest day, bringing an ethereal warmth and glow to your occasion.
In deepest darkest winter picture yourself here holding a goblet of mulled wine by candlelight, with the crackle of a log fire in the background.
And in spring and summer plant yourself in the beauty of Butley, as the golden sun pours in illuminates each and every room – a real venue for all seasons.
Weddings at Butley are important to the team, so you can be assured of a truly welcoming, friendly and professional service from the dedicated wedding planner, who’ll work with you to make your dreams come true.
Ceremonies can be taken in the Great Hall (up to 90 people) or the drawing room (up to 50 people).
The Great Hall, like much of the house, oozes elegance and has many features that will catch your attention, from the chic furnishings or massive stone fireplace to the impressive vaulted stone ceiling.
French doors from this double aspect room open out to the terrace and gardens, which burst to life with hundreds of butterflies in the spring and summertime.
The gardens lead to ponds and fields and offer dozens of photo opportunities, as well as a wealth of hiding places and secret spots for children to explore while you take your reception drinks.
Up to 50 people can be accommodated for a wedding breakfast within the priory, or parties of up to 120 can make use of the stunning marquee, which looks incredible in the warmer months with the sides lifted – a true extension of the property.
Upstairs at Butley and there are lots of nooks and crannies such as plush window seats which are, again, ideal for those essential romantic wedding shots.
Wedding packages at Butley include accommodation where required, and the rooms to be found in the upper quarters of the building certainly impress with their feminine touches, expansive windows and thoughtful extras.
Most rooms include log fires, goosedown duvets, a sitting area, morning tea tray and TV and hi fi.
The south facing Yellow Room is bright and soft with a glorious gothic window.
Moorish influences have crept into the Moroccan Room, which boasts a huge antique bath.
The Mary Rose Room has pretty pink dappled antique wallpaper and a king sized bed.
And the king size West Wing has views to the south of the garden.
Call Butley Priory on 01394 450046 or email info@butleypriory.co.uk to arrange a viewing and to discuss your wedding plans.
You can book Butley for ceremonies only. All other packages include use of the honeymoon suite and three luxury bedrooms for two nights, exclusive use of the gardens, grounds, furniture and linen and, where applicable, use of the lined marquee with carpets, flooring and chandeliers.
