Superhero shoes on trial
FLIP-FLOPS that tone you up!
Now I’ve heard everything.
I do love gadgets and gizmos and often find myself drawn-in by fantastical claims about how my life will be easier, but when I came across Fitflops, they seemed, well, too good to be true.
The theory is that the specially designed microwobbleboard technology (whereby the sole of the Fitflops has varying densities across its length) improves posture and gait, and uses forgotten about muscles, increasing the toning effect of every step you take.
Claims from the manufacturer say the shoes: Improve core muscle strength, absorb shock on your feet, knees and back, encourage better posture and stronger muscles, burn calories, mimic barefoot walking, can help to reduce cellulite and slim and tone the thighs, improve muscle tone, strengthen and tone muscles in the feet, legs, buttocks, stomach and back, increase leg muscle activity and circulation. Phew!
Keen to see if these ‘miracle’ shoes work, I gained a pair on Friday morning, and will be wearing them for 30 minutes to an hour every day throughout the spring and summer.
Today is Monday and I have to say, so far I am surprisingly impressed with my new sole mates.
The Electra pair I received are quite smart with their twinkly black sequins, and are glam enough to wear to the office on a hot day or even on a night out.
I did have to laugh when I saw a label on the shoes to wear them ‘progressively’. But after 20 minutes of housework on Friday afternoon I was starting to feel the burn in my ankles and foot arch.
Plus I noticed my posture was different – the Fitflops were forcing me to stand correctly.
Having worn them in, I took my Fitflops for a two hour stroll at Needham Lakes yesterday. They were very comfortable and although I could feel my muscles working harder, it wasn’t painful or uncomfortable at all.
Whether anything has been toned or tightened yet I do not know – here’s hoping some of the cellulite that has collected around my thighs is busted by the end of the week!
Fitflops are available at various outlets across East Anglia as well as online at websites including Boots.
