Run your way to firmer thighs

Dear Josie: My friend told me that running is a good way to tone my bum, legs and thighs for my wedding. I’ve never run before. How should I get started and how often should I do it to see results?
Josie: Any exercise routine should be increased gradually. If you are not use to exercising you should start with three sessions per week, increasing it to five sessions depending on your fitness levels.
It’s also important to have days off from exercise as this will give your body the time it needs to recover and rest.
To get started with running you need to start with short bust of jogging and walking, gradually increasing the amount of time that you are jogging for.
Don’t try to jog too far and fast to start with, the pace needs to be comfortable, you need to be able to breath easily i.e  hold a conversation. Running is good for your bum, legs and thighs but you should also try to do squats and lunges as this will help tone them too.
Prior to participating in any exercise program or activity, it is recommended that you seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health care professional.
