Natural beauty
LAST week beauty expert Elizabeth Hallett introduced her skincare range Elizabeth’s Daughter, to a wider audience by launching the products into Holland and Barrett’s flagship store in Bury St Edmunds.
Rolling out across Holland and Barrett stores UK-wide this month, the Elizabeth’s Daughter range was created by Elizabeth after years of struggling with skin problems.
Unable to find products gentle enough to suit her needs, and not wanting her daughter to have the same problems, Elizabeth worked with botanical experts to create formulas based on on average 95% natural ingredients with no added parabens, sulphates or petrochemicals.
The range is ideal for brides with sensitive skin who want to have a regular skincare routine before their wedding day.
Elizabeth said: “Every bride wants a flawless complexion for their big day. So the last thing she should risk is aggravating her skin by using overly complex and therefore potentially irritating skincare.
“Planning a wedding is stressful enough, so the last thing you want to worry about is skin complications. I created Elizabeth’s Daughter as a simple yet highly effective skincare range. It is 95% natural on average and so is gentle, nurturing and ideal for brides to use, even those with sensitive skin.
“My top tip would be to set aside time to invest in a simple, twice-daily regimen of cleansing and moisturizing. Additional use of our Purifying Mask once a week will ensure a clear, blemish-free complexion. As our products are packaged in light-weight, air-tight pumps they are also ideal for taking away on honeymoon.
“The Soothing & Glossing Balm is a fabulous all round multi-tasker that, as well as giving lips a sexy shine, can be used to combat dry elbows and knees, to soften hard skin on feet and to nourish cuticles. The Skin Spritz is a lovely in-flight facial hydrator and refreshing cooler on the beach.”
ON TEST: THE ELIZABETH’S DAUGHTER RANGE
The Daily Moisturiser SPF15 for face and body £24 for 150ml
The hype: This product is packed with fresh pumpkin cells, which have a high anti-oxidant level, as well as nourishing rice bran and sesame seed oils and shea butter for smoothness.
Our verdict: The moisturiser is a rich, yet light cream with a gentle fragrance. A little went a long way – half a pump-worth was enough to cover the entire face and neck area. It left the skin supple and soft.
The Intensive Moisturiser, 100ml, £26
The hype: A rescue therapy to calm sensitised or dry skin with Sacha Inchi oil and Tahitian Monoi which is rich in omega oils and fatty acids. Plus the product includes vitamin c enriched Kakadu plum extra, apricot kernel oil and mango butter.
Our verdict: This is a rich, earthy and nutty-scented cream. Our tester tried this on their very dry hands and legs and the relief was almost instantaneous – helping to sooth itching. Used on the face sparingly as a night cream, the skin was left feeling velvety soft and touchable.
The Facial Cream Cleanser, 100ml, £15
The hype: A creamy cleanser with Kalahari watermelon seed oil and cocoa extract, the cleanser has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant effects.
Our verdict: Our tester, who has very sensitive skin, found this easy to use, very light, non-oily with a delicious scent. Her skin, which usually flares-up with cleansers was calm and soft after using the product.
The Facial Gel Cleanser, 100ml, £15
The hype: A refreshing wash-off gel with aloe vera leaf juice and fresh kiwi cells to protect against the elements.
Our verdict: This was a smooth product that felt lovely to use and left the skin feeling light, fresh and clean.
The Purifying Mask, 100ml, £26
The hype: A deep cleansing mask to purify skin and reduce inflammation with lime seed oil, Amazonian white clay and great burdock and erysiumum, which have proven sebo-regulating properties.
Our verdict: Used on dry skin with an oily t-zone, the product dried quickly but didn’t dry out the skin, and felt like it was drawing out grease. It had a lovely, natural scent and left skin soft and oil-free.
The Eye Make-Up Remover £14 100ml
The hype: An effective formula to remove make-up and leave eyes clear and bright, with pomegranate extract and kiwi fruit cells.
Our verdict: This cooling liquid didn’t sting sensitive eyes and felt soothing, removing all traces of eye make-up. Our tester loved the innovative one-touch pump, which dispensed just the right amount of product to her cotton wool pad.
The hype: A toning mist to freshen and soothe the skin with aloe vera leaf juice, rosewater and fresh strawberry cells.
Our verdict: A very light, beautifully scented spritz. Good for the morning as a toner on the skin or for non make-up days to make you feel refreshed.
The Soothing and Glossing Balm, 50ml, £18
The hype: A formula that conditions and nourishes lips and dry skin on areas such as the hands, nails, cheeks, feet and elbows. Contains apricot butter, shea butter, aloe vera and rose hip seed oil.
Our verdict: Used on dry lips this was non sticky, very nourishing and enriching, leaving a lovely sheer gloss. It really did smooth out very rough lips. On the skin the product felt a little greasy but was ideal as a rich treatment. The gloss also looked great dotted onto the cheeks. A modern day take on Elizabeth Arden’s cult Eight Hour Cream
