When it comes to ‘reportage’ wedding photography, there are few photographers better qualified than Clifford Hicks.

CLIFFORD comes from the world of newspapers and glossy magazines – including fashion for the prestigious local Suffolk magazine – where he learned all about working to tight schedules, capturing events as they happen and telling the human story through pictures.

All the elements of a wedding, in fact.

Now, says Clifford, he’s applying the techniques he’s developed over the years in his current work as a reportage wedding and portrait photographer.

“I like to document a wedding in an unobtrusive and candid style, to produce a true reflection of events throughout the day,” he said. “And though I of course take portraits of the bride and groom, I do not like to ‘steal’ them away from the wedding celebrations for an excessive amount of time.

“I believe the flow of the day should not be interrupted for longer than necessary.”

Clifford’s aim is to produce natural, relaxed pictures that reflect the day, as opposed to photographs which are too staged and formal.

“I also like the couple to have a certain amount of input with regard to the number of portraits of the bride and groom and the number of group shots taken on the day,” he said/ “Everyone has their own idea of what they require when it comes to this, though I will guide them and suggest the best options.”

When couples choose their wedding photographer it’s really important that they like each other – simple, but true.

The bride and groom need to establish a good rapport with the person pointing the lens at them, so they feel comfortable, relaxed and confident that he or she will make them look their best and capture the significant moments of their big day.

From his pictures, it’s easy to see that Clifford is able to put couples at their ease, so they actually enjoy every single moment in front of the camera.

“I’m always happy to discuss any requirements and will always try to meet the needs of a couple’s day,” said Clifford.

He offers two base packages, one covering the day until the wedding breakfast, the other covering the day and the evening celebrations, and can supply a high resolution disc of images, as well as albums and prints.
