There’s considerable prestige associated with being shortlisted for the Anglian Business Awards, so it’s worth taking some time to make sure that your entry shows off your business to the very best advantage.
As part of your entry, we ask you to send us 2 years accounts (unless you’re a start-up in which case we ask you to send us an indication of how your business is performing against your business plan). This overview of the financial performance of your business is important to us in verifying the trading position of your organisation. The information is treated with the strictest confidence and will only be seen by our Business Editor, Duncan Brodie, the category judges and should you be chosen as the winner of your category, by the overall Business of the Year judges. We will not share or publish this information.
Once you’ve picked your category(ies) you can click through and read the criteria for that category before completing your entry details in the boxes provided.

There are three key areas here which will greatly improve your chances for success:-
- Make sure that you fully address the criteria mentioned in the text – don’t just tell the judges what you want them to know – give them the answers that they want to hear!
- Don’t forget to send us the accounts information that we have asked for – the judges can’t make a proper assessment of the success of your business without it!
- Almost without exception those businesses that have been shortlisted in recent years have sent in supplementary evidence to support their entry e.g. evidence of marketing campaigns, customer testimonials, relevant training qualifications, etc.

All entries for a category will be judged together and the three that best meet the criteria in the judges’ opinion will be shortlisted. From these three the eventual winner will be picked and they will go forward to the Business of the Year category. You may enter as many categories as are relevant to your organisation.
All shortlisted organisations will receive a free ticket to the awards dinner. Further tickets may be purchased at £70 + VAT, subject to availability.
The closing date for entries is Friday, May 20th, 2011.
Following this date, the entries will be categorised and a short listing process will take place, based upon the criteria detailed and information provided. In some instances, we may need to request additional information to assist in this process.
